These Truths
Jul. 4th, 2007 09:58 amHappy 4th, Nation (No, I don't think I'm Mr. Colbert, I just really wanted to say it, as I think it sounds hilariously awesome).
I may not like some (okay, a lot) of the things that are going on with this country right now, but I still like my country.
I like that it is not only allowed, but encouraged to do what I did yesterday and write your elected officials.
I like that Keith Olbermann is totally allowed to say our President and Vice President should resign. Hell, we all are.
I like that, though I may not have all the rights that, say, a straight Caucasian male has, I still have hope. I still believe that if we make enough of a fuss and keep fighting-- that will change.
I... I don't know, guys. I just do. I'm also big dork who gets all teared up at sappy commercials about Dads and Kids going fishing and longs for those community celebrations that always end up with dancing in the street that you see on tv. Sometimes there are white gazebos with brass bands in parks.
