Teen Girls With Powers
Can anyone think of a tv show, besides The Secret World of Alex Mack, that centered around a superpowered preteen/teen girl main character type premise? Cartoons count (though not Anime, because yeah,
mllelaurel is right, there's a shittonne of that) .*
I'm coming up with nada and so I'm wondering, since I loved Alex Mack so much because it was a girl my age with superpowers. Also, her powers were hella awesome.
I can think of tons of preteen/teen guy shows offhand.
Books are easier to think of with powered girl protangonists.
*Editing on to clarify, as I am so bad at expressing myself without help (hi people in comments asking questions! Thank you! Sincerely!). I'm talking about shows that were aimed at older kids, preteens, teens. That the main character was a powered girl, the one that the narrative was specifically about. I'm forgetting the word for it. Even in ensemble casts, often there is one person who the story is most about, even if there are times when it focuses on other people.

Umm... a great number of magic girl anime would qualify. Western stuff, though, I'm having trouble thinking of.

Do you mean shows aimed at adults, like Buffy, or at kids?
I guess there was Sabrina the Teenage Witch, but that was more of a sitcom than an adventure show. (She also had a cartoon spin-off later on, though.)

Oh yeah, Sabrina! I loved that show too. Until it just got tired and sad. *laughs*

I need to work on wording questions better and more clearly.

I keep wanting to say Clarissa Explains it All, but she wasn't superpowered so much as just super awesome.

I think the reason I fell in love with the X-Men cartoons (and thus X-Men) was because it started out with Jubes. A teen girl into a crazy superpower situation. I don't know if they did that on purpose to draw what girl audience they could, but it totally worked on me.
Heee. Yeah, Man, I was heartbroken when that show ended. I keep trying to put Veronica Mars into the catagory for similar reasons.

I will have to ponder this further.
Also, I have a secret love for Kim Possible. Or at least I did for a while.

Um. Yeah I can think of other young girl centered stuff, but there's no superpowers involved. Sigh.

In the Nickelodeon vein, there's always Ka-blam! (which nobody seems to remember but me) which was a bunch of semi-regular skits, I'm sure one of them had to have a super powered girl.
And Rainbow Brite? Yeah, she was totally animated and in outer space, but I had Rainbow Brite bedsheets.

heee. Rainbow Brite. A little younger than the audience I was thinking of, but true all the same.

Haha, yeah, I didn't watch much tv.. Mostly sesame street and stuff where the women were heroes in the feminist way. Which is kind of the same thing....lol

I can still sing a good portion of the theme song.

I'd rather go sooner rather than later, and do food shopping afterwards (I'd like to try Trader Joe's, actually). Call me later and let me know what you think is best.
