Now, I know a good portion of my flist is not from Oregon. In fact, I know a good portion of you are from rival states.

BUT. Let me tell you why you should vote for Springfield, Oregon (<--- VOTE HERE. Click on the star next to Springfield, Oregon! Go! Go! Go!) to be the location of the premiere for The Simpsons Movie.

1. Matt Groening grew up in Portland, Oregon and there are a ridiculous number of references to Oregon and Portland specifically in the show (though some of these, in all fairness, are arguable).

2. Matt Groening spent time in Eugene, Oregon, which is basically conjoined to Springfield, Oregon and several Simpsons Springfield landmarks are said to be modeled off the area. Including the statue of Jebediah Springfield and Moe's tavern.

3. Oregon, the eternal underdog! From this news article:
Winning the vote could prove tough. Springfield, Ore., (pop. 56,000), is up against Springfields in Massachusetts (pop. 152,000), Missouri (151,000) and Illinois (111,000).

Everyone loves an underdog!

4. It would make me warm and fuzzy inside.

Well, rival in that there are other Springfields trying to STEAL OUR GLORY.

And yes. California. Only... they don't really realize it. It's one of those sort of rivalries. Like on tv when the nerdy kid hates the popular jock and the popular jock is all "Whatever." and the nerdy kid is like "OMG I WILL HAVE MY REVENGE HOW DARE YOU IGNORE ME?! *builds world destroying laser*"

Don't really have strong feelings about the Simpsons movie, and would totally vote for your state, except I somehow feel like I'd be betraying my state's capital if I did that. Silly Illinois.
