So sometimes when I'm bored, I go onto flickr and type 'Oregon' into the search thing and see what comes up. A while ago, I started saving pictures with the intention of doing a huge 'Oregon is Awesome!' picspam. I'm kind of lacking on pictures of some important regions still, but felt like posting some pictures anyhow. So I give you, ordered from North to South, some pictures of the Oregon Coast.

The Peter Iredale wreck.

Astoria, where The Goonies was filmed. Also the Astoria from The Ataris album 'So Long, Astoria'.

Boiler Bay. I need to see if I can track down some of the many north coast features with 'devil' in their name. They're always good for some dramatic wave+rock action.

Agate Beach, near Newport.

The Yaquina Bay Bridge into Newport, OR. Newport is home of the aquarium where the orca from Free Willy lived before they tried to integrate him back into the wild. NOAA is moving their Northwest Headquarters there from Seattle. I applied for a job as a seaman, but I have not heard back. It's a shame because I would be set for life, jokes-wise.

There is pretty much one "major" town along the the Oregon Coast Hwy every hour and the next one South from Newport is Florence, which is where the Oregon Sand Dunes start. I have no pictures of the Oregon Sand Dunes at this time, which is a shame. They inspired the book Dune while the author was in Florence doing a scientific survey of some kind.

These rock features with the trees on top are all over the place where I grew up on the South Coast and always captured my imagination as a kid. I, impractically, wanted to live on one.

Bandon! This is really near where I grew up. We went camping in Bandon a lot. Now it has a very popular Scottish style golf course, which is appropriate since the town is named after a place in Scotland.

Annnd, I have no good way to end this, so I'm just going to use an emoticon.

:D?

That's a beach? (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v63/speshope/Oregon%20From%20Flickr/agatebeachyaquinahead.jpg) It looks like the Sahara. With a lighthouse.

Your state's coastline is much more interesting than my state's coastline! Sandbars are boring. :(

See! See, this is why I need pictures of the dunes! That's nothing compared to the dunes. To flickr with me!

That's the magic of dynamic and active geology!

SO MUCH MORE. Oregon has several very distinct and equally beautiful geographic regions (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oregon#Geography)!

Oregon doesn't have gay marriage yet, but we could get married elsewhere so you could be a citizen and then move to Oregon and have domestic partner rights! :D? ( :/)

I READ ABOUT IT ON WIKIPEDIA. I THINK IT'D WORK. YOU'D JUST HAVE TO TAKE A TEST ABOUT THE CONSTITUTION OR SOMETHING.

Wait. Damn, I think the fact that the US Federal government doesn't recognize same sex marriages would constitute a problem. Government >:(

Our state is AWESOME.

I love Bandon. When I was a kid, we used to meet up with my grandparents there (they lived near Eureka, CA) for vacations.

o/\o HECK YEAH IT IS.

I grew up in Coos Bay and I miss being able to jaunt down there for fresh cheese curds on whim. Now I live nowhere near a cheese factory and it is a tragedy. ;____;
