We had dial-up in my house until I was 16. SIXTEEN. Today's 16-year-olds were born after Kurt Cobain died.

P.S. My house phone was one number off from the local dial-up number. I'm pretty sure I sustained permanent trauma from picking up the phone and having a fucking modem in my ear several times a day.

I never had internet access at my parents'; didn't get online until I started college. Used the higher-speed connection in the computer labs until I moved into my own place, then had dialup for the first time (through the college).

My parents STILL have dialup. I try so hard to understand why they refuse to upgrade. Sadly, I think the concept of internet working at all is still a little fantastical to them and high-speed would blow their minds.

I think the only reason my parents stopped having dial-up is because they got a deal on cable tv if they got internet through the same company. Thank you bundles!
